Over the past decade, artificial intelligence (AI) applications yielded exciting and tangible results in the medical domain. In particular, computer vision is on the brink, to radically and irreversibly transform medical imaging and, in particular, radiology.

 

In 2017, a team led by Professor Falk Schwendicke and Dr. Joachim Krois formed at Europe’s largest university hospital, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, to drive technological change in dentistry.

They combined the art of machine learning, the elegance of software engineering and outstanding dental research. The team is dedicated to helping dentists make the best possible diagnostic and treatment decisions for their patients.

Through the Digital Accelerator Program of Charité BIH Innovation at the Berlin Institute of Health, dentalXrai GmbH was spun off from Charité –Universitätsmedizin Berlin in spring 2020. The company offers state-of-the-art AI-based tools for dental diagnostics and patient communication. dentalXrai’s software is a certified medical device.
